Review of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) by Viktor N — 01 Sep 2018

Thor Ragnarok was very interesting and definitely helps the Marvel cinematic universe after the past few films of attempting to cram things together and make Infinity war work. This movie was a great change and decided to completely rewrite Thor.

From the first Thor movie, we have seen the character grow from a oblivious, arrogant, stubborn man to someone who seems to be having a good time and getting along with others. The way that Marvel has pulled this off was spectacular and it could've gone wrong in so many ways, and yet, they pulled it off with subtle details and physical reminders that Thor has grown in the past few years.

Asides from the tremendous character growth, the film was funny, entertaining and had suspenseful action sequences. The villain was intimidating, and Blanchett played a believable role of Hela. Now, there were 2 stories going on in this movie, the Ragnarok storyline and the Sakaar storyline.

The Sakaar storyline was great, it was fun, entertaining and the place where Thor has grown the most. The Ragnarok storyline on the other hand, seemed dull and rushed, like Marvel needed a villain and once again, going back to the old films where they needed to rush ideas and changes to make Infinity War work.

If the Ragnarok and Sakaar storylines were split more evenly and the Ragnarok storyline with Hela had more time to develop, the movie would've been great.
