Review of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) by Sam K — 14 Apr 2018
Thor: Ragnarok is such a breath of fresh air compared to the last Thor movies, especially with Infinity War up and coming, which we all know isn't going to have the happiest of endings. The lightheartedness, comedy, and character building of this film, for me, makes this one of the best Marvel movies.
The plot is easy to follow and interesting, and the comedy doesn't take away from the seriousness of the situation, but rather adds to it. I liked seeing Loki and Thor not acting as stuffy, uptight gods, but as more humorous beings, since mythology can be quite hilarious in the first place.
It made it easier to connect to these to characters, even when they were placed in a situation that none of us would be in. Taika Waititi did a great job directing, and I knew this movie was going to be good when I heard he was directing it, as I have been a fan of his other works.
The visuals were great, the story and pacing were wonderful, and a great cast of characters whose actors had chemistry with each other made this production shine against the rest of other Marvel movies.
