This movie kind of reminds me of the same criticism I had with Doctor Strange: ItMM is that it could have been something so much more. Like in Strange so many other universes could have been explored but we got 2 (aside from the quick flashes), we could have seen tons of new cool variants and new other-verse heroes but we got very few.

Here in Thor:LaT we visit Olympia, the meeting place of the gods and we had the chance of seeing pantheons across numerous religions but instead we got 1 god showing up from a handful of pantheons. Where was Bast, the Black Panther god? How about Kunhshu, Tawaret or others from Moon Knight? Seemed like a big missed oppurtunity. And when Thor talked about getting a team of gods together to fight Gorr I thought I was getting a wet dream of a movie. In my head I pictured Quetzalcoatl, Horus, Bast, Hercules and any other numerous gods joining his team to help kill Gorr with some of them perishing along the way to real drive home Gorr's power. We didn't get that.

I wished this movie went one of a million other ways than it did. If it steered more towards Thor and Jane's romance and then with her cancer, that could have been something really touching and even inspiring to people dealing with cancer or to people who have lost loved ones to cancer. If this movie went the full jokey route and had a miniature adventure with the Guardians of the Galaxy (kind of like how Civil War was a miniature Avengers movie) that could have been really cool but the GotG were swept out of the way quickly.

Or I could have really enjoyed more of Gorr's side of the story and what drove him to hate the gods so much instead of just flipping a switch once he conveniently gets the All Black out of nowhere.

Finally, like Ragnarok, I don't like the idea of taking something deadly serious, like the destruction of Asgard and the death of Thor's friends and family, and cutting away to joke gags half the time. It's the same way with this movie: a character wants to kill all of the gods, yet the movie is primarily a comedy. It just doesn't work for me.

Another note: the trailers literally gave away the entire movie and prevented ZERO surprises in the theater.

Overall, just a very mediocre movie. Not good, not bad. Another movie that's just... there.
