Review of Thor (2011) by Marin M — 13 May 2018
Natalie Portman is a bad actress and she has no chemistry with Chris Hemsworth, who also isn't a good actor. Tom Hiddleston fails to impress as Loki -- he just isn't menacing in any way. Normally in these types of movies there is a token black guy who is a sidekick to the white lead character, but here there isn't.
Heimdall you say? He isn't really Thor's sidekick -- he's just the black doorman for the white people of Asgard. In a subtly racist move, the black Asgardian just stands around all day guarding the entrance to Asgard -- he's just their doorman.
Sir Anfernee Hopkins brings nothing to the proceedings. No memorable action sequences at all. I liked Kat Dennings and Jaimie Alexander more than Natalie. I wish Rene Russo had a larger role.
