Review of Thor (2011) by Richard H — 22 Oct 2013
A good attempt at a rather mythical superhero. I always thought that like Superman, Thor, would be hard to adapt to the big screen, especially since he basically is a god and it's hard to get that scope. However, I believe Chris Hemsworth is literally perfect for the role as Thor. He definitely carries himself perfectly.
Tom Hiddleston also does an amazing performance, however, I do believe that they made Loki too likeable. He is one of the best villains in the Marvel Universe, yet he's like a wounded angsty child in the movie and people cannot help but root for the wounded child.
Also, I am not a big fan of Jane Foster and while Natalie Portman is a great actress, I found the romance a little forced at best. I mean the only hint of attraction we got between them is that Thor's hot, they had a little flirtation on the roof and then that kiss. Nothing else. No build up.
All and all though, it's an enjoyable film. One of my favorite superhero movies.
