Review of Thor (2011) by Dave H — 12 Nov 2013
As my friend Tim observed, incredibly silly...but also lots of fun. Borrows from Iron Man to hit exactly the right tone between action and character humour. The down-to-Earth stuff with Portman works better than the CGI drenched fantasy world stuff with its heavily geek-speak lingo.
Kinda weird in pacing and structure and suspense, with no decent villain to speak of and Thor's final appearance on Earth strangely anti-climatic with the odd-cross cutting. Great casting though, especially with Kirk's daddy, and even though Branagh can't direct action, he's great with some nice character moments.
So silly though.
