Review of Thor (2011) by Tom S — 27 Dec 2013
I'd say it was good enough, but not really all that great. Most of the movie is spent on another planet with alien heroes and villains, making this a very different kind of super hero movie than we're used to seeing.
They tried to work a love story into it as well, but it falls really flat - it's just way too unrealistic to believe that anybody could develop those kinds of deep feelings for someone with so little time invested.
.. or that any astrophysicist could be as good looking as Natalie Portman. Finally, the anticipated "epic battle at the end of the movie" (every super hero movie has one) never really materialized.
The one you expect to be the penultimate battle wasn't really all that great either. If you're looking forward to "completing the set" and seeing all the Avengers-related movies, then go see it.
Otherwise, it can quite easily be skipped.
