The Thunder God banished to Earth after inadventedly starting a war must retrieve his hammer and save the universe from his brother's evil conspiracies. Perhaps the most complicated storyline of the new avengers films, whether that says a lot or not, it doesn't seem to fully sustain the challenge of carefully balancing the plot's architecture with spectacular action sequences in fear of boring its core audience.

Nevertheless, the visuals give it a beautiful and magical tone that lacks in most other superhero movies - it's a shame this aspect is not fully exploited.
