Review of Thor (2011) by Nik M — 12 Nov 2013
Thor is Marvel excitement and fan flare mixed with attempts at something pure and qualified. The action is swift and shocking (at times, literally) but the characters become a joke with such a comedy-filled script that tries way too hard to appeal to a younger audience (granted there are some laugh out loud moments).
The filmmakers need to realize that the younger audiences will learn to love it simply in spite of it being a comic book character, but maturer, uninitiated film viewers will need much more of a hefty look into the universe it creates.
Thor needs to be more than just entertainment and must enlighten us. It feels as though there is so much to learn, but the film takes little time to really take risks and expand on itself.
