Review of Thor (2011) by Afreemanuk — 31 Jul 2011
Thor is a good movie, but I think these movies have suffered as a setup for the Avengers. This handles the lore of the Asgardians well but not well enough. The Frost Giants are not really Giants compared to its comic book / TV Animated Series counter part and Loki is not the big bad crazy bad guy he is in the comics / Animated Series.
However that being said this is a setup an origin movie and it covers all the bases well enough for THOR's first big screen adventure. Not all the characters get enough screen time and the movie does seem rushed towards the end.
Alough the acting is not as strong as in other marvel productions the cast still do a firm job, Antony Hopkins as Odin does a fine job. But I think they should have used some CGI on the guy that played THOR to make him a bit bigger than he was, as in the comics he is simular is muscle size to the hulk.
Apart from that minor grape of mine the film is still enjoyable and as a marvel fan was glad to see a decent attempt at a THOR movie. Lets hope all the build up to the avengers gives us one of the best movies of next year, otherwise marvel's name will be mud.
