Review of This Sporting Life (1963) by Yogesh R — 26 Oct 2007
Harris does Brando better than Brando. Excellent acting (the supporting cast features Rachel Roberts, Colin Blakely, Arthur Lowe, and Leonard Rossiter), fascinating characters, beautiful b&w cinematography (almost *too* beautiful), interesting themes. Unfortunately, it gets a bit boring with all the soapy stuff at the end -- and what's up with that spider? (Does Anderson think he's Bergman??).
Still, a very impressive fiction debut for Anderson.
