Review of This Must Be the Place (2011) by Danilo G — 14 Oct 2011
My mood was probably the right one for This Must Be The Place. I really enjoyed it despite some scenes are just an exercise in style and some others forcedly too bizarre. A worth seeing movie anyway: it has a consistent story, a number of somehow fresh ideas, a pretty good photography and evocative songs.
Episodes are effectively linked each other and Penn - who is present in all of them - is a true main character, his acting is great. What I don't understand is why This Must Be The Place ends like that.
It should have been better finished at the airport and that's it; the last scene seems to be taken from another movie, what a pity. Sorrentino is a promising director for sure. One day he could become a promising talented director?
