Review of This Must Be the Place (2011) by Tina L — 23 Apr 2012
A quietly reflective, hugely melancholic film about disconnection in life. Sean Penn, superbly, plays a semi retired goth rock star in Ireland who feels lost in life. When his long estranged father dies in the USA, he goes to pay his respect.
What begins is a road journey to find his father's tormenter from the holocaust. Unique to a point this film baffles, delights and pains all in the same scene. Superbly shot and full of richly drawn characters it turns into an immensely rewarding film.
