Review of This Must Be the Place (2011) by Jack C — 04 May 2012
A most unusual movie with intrigue and a handful of comic moments.
Sean Penn is a hero of mine and once again he puts in a remarkable, if this time around subdued performance as Cheyenne, an ageing gothic rock star setting off from Ireland to America to avenge the Nazi that persecuted his Jewish father.
It is a little messy and disjointed at times, but the performances shine through, as with many of the films Penn is involved in, it is a portrait of the soul.
Not the best, but worth seeing for the ending where he loses his crazy goth persona and shares a moment of such simple happiness.
Worth checking out for something different.
