Review of This Means War (2012) by Jake W — 27 Jun 2013
A very, very cool movie. Me and my friends thoroughly enjoyed it and so did most the people in the cinema, all you could hear was laughter. Watching Tom Hardy and Chris Pine out do each other in the most wild ways is extremely entertaining.
Reese Witherspoon is kind of the underdog as she is blind sighted by the fact they are at war to gain her love. . . for a bet. That is until Chris Pine's character seriously falls for her, as does Tom Hardy.
Story wise it's simple yet ludicrously fun, the best aspect of the film is the character called Trish played by Chelsea Handler, she is frickin hilarious as she dishes out crude advice and one liners to Lauren.
The only problem with the film is that once the two spies meet Lauren, the plot with the Russian villain is forgotten and then suddenly starts up again. Action wise it is very video game like cause it looks fake, but at the same time it's bloody awesome.
The opening shootout on top of skyscraper is epic, the car chase near the end is packed with stunts and explosions! For an action comedy there's more comedy in this film, the action comes in short bursts and very rarely, but that's no problem as the comedy timings of the three stars is just excellent.
