Review of This Island Earth (1955) by Aj V — 24 Sep 2010
Kitch and camp battle for most appropriate descriptor of this dated sci-fi evil alien conspiracy that was trademark for the times.
I have to admit I was entertained by how bad it was. It was funny to regard all the pseudo-science at work, from the "thermal envelope" around our galaxy to the ability to travel across light years from a race that needs earthlings to figure out how to turn lead into uranium. Throw in a superfluous monster to make the female victim scream, while not really providing much threat, and I guess "camp" wins.
