Review of This Is Where I Leave You (2014) by Jaret M — 16 Mar 2015
This uneven dramady never reaches a status beyond a paltry Diet-Osage County. A massively talented and likable cast give mostly decent performances, but only a small handful of the film's "moments" actually work while the majority just come off as forced, predictable or simply unearned.
Adam Driver is the true stand out performance, mostly because his unique delivery and erratic behavior make him the one element of the film that you can't predict. Its so clear that all involved feel they were making a masterpiece, which makes this example of brazen mediocrity a true bummer; the poster-child for missed opportunities.
