Review of This Is Where I Leave You (2014) by David B — 01 Oct 2014
Oh, wow, the critics got it really wrong this time. I'm rarely compelled to write a review of a new movie, I had to say something. I'm a guy who goes to independent film houses, and count Godard and Antonioni among my favorite directors.
The film I saw before this one was the re-release of Rosselini's Rome Open City. Is this film a masterpiece? No, of course not. But it is a great deal of fun, and very affecting. Schmaltzy and sentimental, for sure, but a thoroughly enjoyable hour and forty five minutes.
