Review of This Is Where I Leave You (2014) by Amelie L — 12 Apr 2015
I don't understand how a movie that was supposed to have such a grand scale could have such a little tiny scope. They do manage to shove liberal agenda down your throat every few minutes throughout this boring so-called amazing movie.
I cannot understand the rave reviews and awards for this film. I was very hopeful given that someone took the time to get funding and find actors who would span a 12 year period to create this movie. There is a beginning, a middle and an end, that's almost the only way to sum up this movie.
The acting from Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette pretty good but I would be lying if I said I didn't get utterly bored during the nearly 3 hour runtime. Linklater makes very gory movies that are somehow supposed to bethought provoking movies, and this is no exception.
In the end however, If this is the director's grand achievement in life I feel a little sorry for him.
