Jay Baruchel: The power of Christ compels you!

Jonah Hill: [in demonic voice] Guess what? It's not that compelling.

God, to think I was so looking forward to this movie because it looked like such a fun film, plus being a recent fan of Kevin Smith's work, I have developed an appreciation for stoner-flicks. Sadly, this film wasn't up to par in comparison with Smith's work. Sure it has the similar sophomoric dick jokes and drug humor, the colorful language, sexual innuendo-galore, over use of not-so-subtle phallic symbols (IMHO) but it was missing that enlightening soliloquy ever-present in a Kevin Smith production that makes his films and characters so endearing. These guys may be portraying an exaggerated version of themselves, which was cute to a point, but they had no redeeming quality to them which would make you want to root for them; instead, you seriously want to see them all burn in hell. Plus the film's glacial pacing made it really boring and tedious in a lot of parts and when the action does eventually happen, the film's plot seemed a bit shallow and pointless still. The only silver lining (which is what earned this film a star from me) was catching a glimpse of Emma Watson's comedic side; but other than that, this film was disappointingly unfunny.
