Review of This Is the End (2013) by Steven P — 04 Aug 2014
If you want a movie with very little story, a movie where a celebrity walking into a room stating who they are and then doing something out of character comes at the expense of a real joke, where a demon with a dick is meant to be comedy gold, then this is your movie.
If you have a sense of humor that spans higher then a 15 year old boy then this is something you should avoid at all costs. I felt extremely bored watching this movie to the extent where I started to wish that an apocalyptic rapture would actually happen sucking me out of the cinema.
The only thing this movie promises is that this is certainly the end of cinematic comedy or at least, it's fair to say that the future of cinematic comedies looks very grim. The first time a character is an ass to another character you may try to find it funny but when 84% of the feature is just that, a character being an ass to another character then it becomes old very quickly.
Any hope this feature had at being entertainment from its premise was quickly lost within the first half hour, after which you realise this flick were simply created as a method for ego driven entertainers to simply congratulate themselves on their past work.
I would say it was a very forgettable film but the saddest aspect is I feel so disappointed by this movie that I feel I won't forget it for all the wrong reasons. If you have a good sense of humor then my advice to you is that you should avoid this feature, it will only leave you with a bad taste in your mouth.
