Question... If you gathered every new age comedian threw them in a room with some jumping dance beats, hard drugs, liquor and perhaps some food, what would you get?

Answer.... A party where the A list and B list of comedy come to celebrate the house warming of James Franco's new home just under the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles. Now add to that party the Apocalypse, demons roaming the Earth, hounds of hell breaking and entering as well as a possession swiftly followed by an exorcism and you have This Is The End. A very fun, over the top film about 6 friends and how they handle the unexpected end of the world as we know it. As cabin fever begins to take over and friendships start to waiver. How will they ever get through without turning on each other first?

Written and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg the two play with what they know works, laugh out loud stupidity and humour and a dirty potty mouth to match.

What makes this so different is the actors play themselves, which at first is a little hard to grab hold of, but quickly you tend to forget that and enjoy them as characters of themselves instead. Now when I say A list and B list I'm talking about people like Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson as well as a massive cameo list of stars, including Rhianna, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Mindy, Aziz, the guy that plays McLovin; Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and hundreds of others but none did a better job than Michael Cera, he was brilliant.

This Is The End is a film that has been made to be enjoyed I presume with a few joints or harder narcotics in tow but none the less. I had none of the above and laughed out loud for the majority of the film. It is a very surreal film that tries so hard to suck you in and if you're forgiving enough you will let it. There is nothing serious about the move at all, the guys all had a lot of fun making this film and it really shows. It is one of those films that's needs to be watched and enjoyed, and loved for what it is, nothing more.

A great cast, great story, great special effects make This Is The End a very fun film and well worth watching. It is vulgar, juvenile, crass, uncouth, embarrassing so be warned, toilet humour ahead. The ending alone makes it worthwhile in a very unexpected sing along. (Thousands will disagree!).

4 out of 5 BanShee Screams.
