Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Pam W — 25 Aug 2009

OK...this movie took a while to grow on me, probably due to the mostly-improvised script. Maybe it was the stress of my recent move, but what I'd considered uneven before had me almost in tears this time.

â??Well, I suppose I could, uh, work in a shop of some kind, or... or do, uh, freelance, uh, selling of some sort of, uh, product. You know...â??

â??A salesman?â??

â??A salesman, like maybe in a, uh, haberdasher, or maybe like a, uh, um... a chapeau shop or something. You know, like, â??Would you... what size do you wear, sir?â?? And then you answer me.â??

â??Uh... seven and a quarter.â??

â??â??I think we have that.â?? See, something like that I could do.â??

â??Yeah... you think you'd be happy doing something like--â??

â??â??No; we're all out. Do you wear black?â?? See, that sort of thing I think I could probably... muster up.â??

â??Do you think you'd be happy doing that?

â??Well, I don't know - wh-wh-... what're the hours?".
