Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Kristina K — 06 Jul 2012
Where the humor lies is in its comically obscure settings for concerts and the calamities that ensue -- from a record company vetoing a misogynist album cover to a scale model of a Stonehenge to a puppet theatre in a amusement park.
Thanks to director Rob Reiner (no relation to the Anvil band member), this hysterical jab at progressive-rock outlets manages to succeed in every way. All in all, this is the quintessential example of the mockumentary.
