Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Luke R — 03 Jan 2014
Hilarious mockumentary that is just as funny as it is smart, about a has been British heavy metal band on an absurdly catastrophic comeback American tour. While the pace of the film itself may not be as impressive, it is also true that the laughs just keep on coming.
But what is truly impressive is this feeling of authenticism that truly blends in with the satire and comedy of the film not only through the filmmaking style employed by Reiner that makes it look like a legitimate documentary but also because of a somewhat faithful representation of the image of dumb hair rock bands of the past.
A witty screenplay with some memorable dialogue completes the picture, along with some great performances by the cast and makes This is Spinal Tap a cult classic worth watching again and again.
