Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Daniel C — 01 Feb 2014
A film director follows rock band Spinal Tap on their tour across the USA.
I first became aware of this movie while talking to a work colleague about rock bands. Only in that conversation did I realise Spinal Tap was a made up band for the purpose of this mock/rockumentary. This only intrigued me further though and so I had to watch it.
This is Spinal Tap takes a look at a once popular British rock band as they go on tour in America. From problems with their album cover to underperforming ticket sales, malfunctioning set pieces and dying drummers, the film pokes fun at everything to do with rock bands and touring.
The songs are catchy and the film doesn't seem to lose pace. I found it enjoyable.
