Review of This Is England (2007) by Omar G — 30 May 2009
As good as anything I've seen by Shane Meadows: poignant, menacing, Real. I think the end is a little anti-climactic if you're expecting something film-shaped, but that's a minor quibble. Thomas Turgoose is a revelation as the 12 year old skinhead, an incredible performance.
Plenty of neat period touches make it a fully believable story too. Ace!
