Review of This Is England (2007) by Josephine Josie L — 23 Aug 2009
An intimate and involving film that studies character and social issues both extremely effectively. A gloomy, sad depiction of disaffected youth and the danger of a fatherless son. The young cast are all very impressive and naturalistic, turning in moving performances, with an especially emotionally rich performance from Stephen Graham.
A very mature, realized story told on screen with an aggresive energy.
