Review of This Is England (2007) by Joe C — 16 Jun 2010
This film is absolutely flawless. Apart from showing the truth about the skinhead culture, the acting is so realistic and it really feels like it was filmed in England in the 80's. The story depicts a young boy, Shaun Fields (played by Thomas Turgoose) who lives with his mother after losing his father in the Falklands during the early 1980's. At school he is bullied and ridiculed and then Shaun finds friendship and respect in a skinhead gang, led by the likeable Woody.
Turgoose was outstanding as Shaun, an amazing talent. The movie is funny, gritty and compelling!
