The British version of American History X? Well, while both films are about young boys coming of age amidst skin head culture, This Is England stands as a more personal film than the former. Shane Meadows semi-autobiographical film has a great soundtrack, a timeless message and fine performances, which surmount the otherwise familiar story.
The neo-realist style of film making might not appeal to all, but it is certainly appropriate for this rugged tale.
