Review of This Is England (2007) by Lee H — 12 May 2012
Very good film from Meadows that really captures England at this transitional stage of it's history. Although it lacks the punch of Meadows best work Dead Man's Shoes, it does draw you in and doesn't shy away from the hate and frustration that was in the air in 83.
Also Turgoose is a talent and steals the film from all the older actors, although Graham runs him close with possibly his best performance of his career. I felt it could have been a bit longer as more should have been shown about the supporting characters.
Overall this is British filmmaking at it's best.
