Review of This Is England (2007) by Jenn M — 03 Jun 2012
Very interesting. Gritty, realistic, kinda scary too. Young boy is bullied at school, only to end up being sheltered by a local group of skinheads. It was interesting to see him evolve from a bit of a pansy to being toughened up by his "friends".
On the other hand it was also disturbing, because this did revolve around racism and hatred, and this young boy was being tailored to be part of this gang. About half way through, Combo comes on the scene and you really start to see almost like a father-son relationship form between the two which is heartwarming BUT still disturbing because of the content obviously.
The acting was superb and this movie was incredibly realistic. Kudos.
