Review of This Is England (2007) by Calvin L — 25 Dec 2012
Excellent film, totally accessible and bought me close to tears at several points.
The music is pitch perfect right up to the end, and adding a beautiful tint to the most (deliberately) mundane scenery.
The acting and direction is absolutely faultless, and you even feel sorry for the most dislikeable of the characters â?? which is not something that can often be said of racists.
The violence holds a good balance between terrifying, yet without ever getting too â??preachyâ??.
Had a stunning reminder of how real and relatable the subject matter of this film is recently with a group of young boys shouting out â??Niggerâ?? and â??Pakiâ??, simply because they thought it was funny.
