Review of This Is England (1941) by Sam F — 12 May 2009

Wow. this film got so many different reactions from me. one minute I was laughing, one minute I felt sorry for characters, the next minute I was in complete and utter shock, mainly with the actions of Combo.

I honestly don't know what to say. I don't know if "loved" or "enjoyed" the film is the right choice of words. it was really, really good though and definitely opens your eyes to the kind of ignorant behaviour that is sadly still out there today in some form or another.

Was a bit surprised with how it just seemed to end. to be fair, I couldnt see where else they could go with the film though so this is forgiven and isnt seen as a cop-out of 'ending' it.

Fantastic actors in this though, especially young thomas - he did a fantastic job.
