Review of This Is 40 (2012) by Matt A — 03 Aug 2013
Don't know why this is poorly received, acting as a side story to Knocked Up, this film focuses on Deb and Pete's marriage. It would've been nice to of seen Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl pop up in a small cameo but alas that doesn't happen, the plot does require family to show up so why not the sister?? Anyway other then that there isn't really a plot to this, its a series of events that build up, its a lot like life, there isn't really a plot to a marriage its pretty random.
The only thing that is constant is the financial struggles and resentments towards fathers that cause friction between them. A few surprise cameos from characters from Knocked Up make an appearance. Megan Fox is in it but only as eye candy for the ageing husbands, but she does her best with what she has been given.
Most importantly this film is funny! So many scenes that I was laughing to, but ultimately its about these 2 people surviving eachother and realising they need each other.
