Review of This Is 40 (2012) by Noah C — 07 Aug 2013
This film certainly isn't as comical and raunchy as past Apatow entries, but it certainly does have some things worth mentioning. I respect Apatow for stepping up to the plate with something a bit more mature, (other than the recurring talk about dicks) it does swing and miss at many points.
Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann have some strong chemistry on camera and they do good at bringing in countless laughs, but the laughs mainly come from these two and nobody else. The two children make their appearances and they have their long-winded arguments, but they don't do much to give the film any extra appeal.
The film clearly isn't a gem, but it's an average comedy.
