There are definitely laughs in this flick. Enough to give it a passing grade for sure. I very much liked Apatow "experimenting" with a more mature and serious theme wrapped around those laughs, but at the same time a) it's very episodic b) very noticeably up and down with those episodes (something bad happens, something good, something bad) and c) at the very least, a half hour too long. I know "that is life", but they needed to portray it in a more succinct way. I found it too cynical and bitter too. Personally, no matter how much my wife and I have and will fight, I know there are certain things I just would not say to her.

But there are enough funny scenes and heartfelt moments to bring it up a bit. The two dads also are the best part of the film in my opinion - John Lithgow at his stoic, unemotional best and Albert Brooks being a perfect struggling family man using his support system too freely.

A decent flick, but one that's probably only going to be watched once because of that length.
