Review of This Is 40 (2012) by James M — 14 Dec 2013
A sequel to Knocked Up... Kind of.
It follows the other couple from that movie, Pete & Debbie, as they hit 40-years-old and suffer a marital crisis, financial problems, a daughter going through puberty and other mid-life problems.
I'm a big fan of Judd Apatow comedies and I really like the characters, but it's clear in this film what's scripted and what's ad-libbed. It's missing Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl & Jonah Hill from the first movie but has cameos from Jason Segel, John Lithgow, Chris O'Dowd and others.
It probably could have been half-hour shorter and I wouldn't have been too upset if all Megan Fox's scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. Watching her trying to deliver a performance of any depth is excruciating.
