Review of This Is 40 (2012) by Susy H — 19 Aug 2015
Funny in places and as familiar and comforting as any Apatow improv-fest. Unfortunately the substitution of a real plot for the on/off arguing of a couple that never resolves their problems, only papers over them with sentiment and sex, wears thin.
Secondary characters are good value, particularly Albert Brooks and Megan Fox. But all in all, the film goes on for far too long and when a character experiences unwanted pregnancy but doesn't even MENTION abortion, it's not believable.
Disappointing.
