Review of This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) by Jamieson A — 16 Apr 2009
Pretty childish if you ask me, not to mention a 90 minute logical fallacy. Kirby Dick has so much fun stalking MPAA board members, digging through their garbage and making prank phone calls to caricatures, that he doesn't realize he's shooting the messenger (or maybe he does and knows it'll make for a sexier victim).
The real people he should have been going after are the theater owners, studio and Wal-Mart executives, etc. who actually make the decision as to whether or not a movie will be made available to the public. Plus, in this day and age, there's no reason why you can't cut your movie down to an R rating for theaters and then release an unrated DVD (which a few of the movies featured actually did).
If they were so concerned about censorship, they'd complain more about the other ratings instead of focusing on the line between R and NC-17. Where was Kirby Dick when I wanted to see Mortal Kombat, but wasn't allowed to see PG-13 movies? Where were his stupid art school glasses then?
