Review of This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) by Caleb C — 21 Jan 2011
A lot to be said about this one. But to sum it up in fewer words, I will say that it is a good documentary. It could have been better though, and more cheeky, and they could have been more harsh when it came to getting their message across.
I didn't entirely feel effected by it, but the filmmakers did do the job that more people should take a note on, and they did get the point across: to make people who love films angry at the MPAA.
If only this could be broadcasted more, plus it wasn't necessary to show the graphic sexual stuff they did..I mean the whole point of this film was to show us how rediculous the MPAA are...couldn't they have blocked out the certain scenes with black boxes to show what the MPAA is really doing to to films?.
. that way this film could have had better distribution and more people would look into it and take it seriously. Honestly, there should be a rating system to prevent little ones from seeing certain things at tender ages.
But the way the MPAA is doing things is actually pretty outrageous, secretive, and actually cescoring and preventing smart and artisitc films from being distributed... and that is what we see here..but in an uncencored way.
Either way, bravo to the filmmakers of this for doing this documentary.
