Review of Thirteen Days (2000) by Reg A — 24 Feb 2010
A gripping account of the 1962 Cuban Missile crisis, which saw the world come dangerously close to the abyss of WWIII. While I thought Kevin Costner's role was irrelevant to the movie (and his dodgy accent a nuisance), Thirteen Days brilliantly shows the power struggle between the Kennedy administration, the Soviets and the US military.
To this end, Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp deserves praise for their respective roles as John and Bobby Kennedy. The conclusion of Thirteen Days is especially poignant, with the Kennedy's administration confidently taking about their plans for South-East Asia, and the final sequence focusing on the shadows of JFK & Bobby.
