Review of Thirteen Days (2000) by William R — 02 Aug 2008
Apart from the expected historical inaccuracy, I was pleasantly surprised how ACCURATE this movie is, having recently read about the subject matter. You'll get more fact than fiction out of this film, which is quite impressive coming from Hollywood.
I was also impressed not only with the acting but with the obvious effort the film makers made to ensure a physical resemblance to the actor's characters. My primary beef with this film is in two parts (hence the loss of a star from it's score): firstly, I think it would have been much better if they had shown atleast some of the Soviet perspective.
I know it's much more difficult to do, even today, but they could have just done what they always do and take an educated (or even an uneducated) guess; secondly, Costner is really making a name for himself with the shitty accents.
Everytime he opened his mouth in the film, I cringed.
