Review of Thirteen (2003) by Tara S — 13 Nov 2010
A thirteen year old girl, anxious to fit in and be popular falls in with the wrong crowd and begins to dabble in drugs, sex and shoplifting. It's an excellent film which explores the destructive path of this girl very well.
Wood plays the part extremelly well, giving her all in each scene and gives some of her best work when she's on the screen with Hunter. Hunter is superb in this film, doing what she does best, giving a gritty but motherly performance which rings true.
Reed is also very good. I liked how the film worked out and the acting, but I also loved the camera work by Hardwicke and a great vision in bringing this story to the screen.
