Review of Thirteen (2003) by Anthony O — 08 Jul 2012
While at times overly explicit and taking advantage of its storyline, "Thirteen" is a provocative film backed up by searing performances from Holly Hunter and the prodigy, Evan Rachel Wood. "Thirteen" opens with what is soon to be a classic, brutal scene, and it hardly lets up.
A horrifying, emotionally distressing tour de force that portrays the terrors of adolescence that every parent prays to avoid. Consider that this is a film not for the casual movie-goer, and all parents out there, you'll be hugging your kids after this.
