Review of Thirteen (2003) by Pete L — 12 Mar 2010
Intense and gripping. Beautifully written by Cathrine Hardwicke and Nikki Reed. Now this a true teen angst movie showing how becoming friends with the wrong person can send you down the wrong path. It really captured what most kids go through when they are entering the teenage part of life.
;trying to fit in, trying to become independant when still being at the age when you arent mature enough and pushing the people who care about you the most away. Well Nikki Reed was only 16 when she and Hardwicke wrote the screenplay, and some of the events that take place in the movie really happend to her.
I really liked the transformantion of Tracy when she became friends with Evie. Before Tracy met her she was just a good girl who loved her mother then she met Evie and Evie just changed her and dragged her down to becoming a very difficult child to raise.
I loved Holly Hunter's preformance. As with Lords of Dogtown, Catherine Hardwicke did an exellent job of crafting and directing this amazing movie which is why I love her directing style. But what I cant understand is why Hardwicke decided to do Twilight.
It's totally different from this and Lords of Dogtown. I think she should just stick to doing movies like this and LoD She's really great at that and when I saw Twilight, I literally said; "What's happend to her?".
