Review of Thirteen (1988) by Joe C — 03 Jul 2009
Very powerful and at time disturbing film. The direction is superb and the uncomfotable nature of the subject is dealt with fantastically making some of the film very hard to watch. In a mainstream hollywood with the perfect models of family and even the sugar coated ideaologies of how kids grow up, this makes an alternative gritty and sadly more realistic portrayl of how falling in the wrong crowd can easily effect who you become.
If this film has succeeded in anything it has proven to me when I have children, I hope its a boy !!!
