I realize the screenplay is not formed from the bullshit, American, Joseph Campbell, 12 step Hero's Journey formulaic nonsense that domestic audiences seem to require, but this film is much better than its rating would indicate.
Highly sentimental, very well acted, a bit of a tearjerker at the end. I was prepared to hate it and was very pleasantly surprised- my favorite kind of film experience. Yes, it's dark. Suck it up, Wuss.
