Review of Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her (2000) by Andrew S — 17 Feb 2010
I have a soft spot for film that's are told vignette style especially one's that focus on female characters. This reminded me of the film Nine Women. Even though this one came before it. But it was a great collected of stories and actresses.
They were all exceptionally interesting and executed very well. The only story that dragged a little too long was "Someone For Rose". Other than that my only complaint is that over the course of film they made it seem as if they were building up to the story of Carmen the woman who kills herself.
But they never really explore her story. I thought it would have been the last story in the film. But no, I did like the closing montage were we were able to see all the women one final time and seeing their stories end.
I thought it was neat how they were loosely knitted together but more so were independent of one another.
