Review of Things We Lost in the Fire (2007) by Bob S — 04 Sep 2008
Superb, but overly-emotional, movie that successfully tackles recovery of both losing a husband/father and recovery of many years of drug abuse. Berry and Del Toro are great, but the underrated star is the director, Bier, who ties the complex story together.
Her visual simile of the cold sweat and shaking of a widow coming to her realization with that of the first few sober days of a drug addict were eye-opening. Bring Kleenex's.
